Individuals at Elevated Risk of Stroke:
- Have a family history of stroke, or have experienced previous stroke, mini stroke
- Have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol
- Have heart disease (such as coronary artery disease, irregular heartbeat)
- Aged 50 and over (the older you are, the more likely you are to have a stroke)
- Experience chronic or high levels of stress, overweight, not getting enough physical activity
- Have experienced head or neck trauma
- Have cerebrovascular conditions such as brain aneurysm, intracranial arterial stenosis, carotid artery stenosis, or carotid artery dissection
- Experience severe headache, dizziness, vomiting
- Have habit of smoking or excessive alcohol consumption
